Statement from Rep. Kevin Parker on the end of the legislative session, call for a special session

6th District lawmaker disappointed Legislature couldn't finish its work on time

“I am disappointed with the governor's announcement today of a special session. According to the state's chief economist, Dr. Arun Raha, the state will bring in close to 4 billion dollars more in tax revenue compared to the last two-year budget cycle. We knew over 90 percent of our budget problem back in November, and still the Legislature failed to complete its work on time.

“I am also disappointed to hear our governor blame the federal government for the problems in Washington state. This is not a time for finger pointing. It is time for the Legislature to accept responsibility, fix its spending problem and get Washington working again.”
