Parker comments on business climate after Boeing announcement

Rep. Kevin Parker, R-Spokane, released the following statement after Boeing announced it would purchase a fabrications and assembly plant in South Carolina:
“This announcement definitely sends a strong signal to the Legislature that Washington is not a good place to do business. This has a huge impact on not only Boeing, but the mom-and-pop shops that create jobs and contribute to our economy. Spokane knows about our poor business climate all too well as we have seen employers move to Idaho, and I hear about this frequently from my constituents.
“Although many policies are well-intentioned, the reality is sometimes they have negative consequences on job creation and economic vitality. We need to act now to prevent a serious blow to our state's economy.
“I hope my fellow Republicans and Democrats will join me in finding ways to encourage competition and private job creation in Washington state. This is the most effective way to bring us out of this recession and on to a sustainable financial path.”
