Parker’s first bill passes the House of Representatives unanimously

Rep. Kevin Parker, R-Spokane, introduced his first bill even before he was sworn-in as state representative on Jan. 12. Today, he watched as the bill was approved by the House of Representatives unanimously. Afterward, members of the House applauded his accomplishment.

House Bill 1001 would require unclaimed veterans' remains to be sent to the Department of Veterans Affairs to be laid to rest at a federal or state veterans cemetery.

“This is a simple bill with a profound meaning,” Parker said. “It is a token of our respect to give veterans the honor they deserve for doing so much for our country.”

The bill now goes to the Senate for further consideration.
